Arlene A. Sluik

Arlene A. Sluik, 85, of 316 East South Street, died Sunday (July 25, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 East South Street, with Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue Mason City and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Arlene A. Sluik Memorial Fund. Arlene was born February 18, 1919 in rural Garner the daughter of Harold and Martha (Lemke) Heimendinger. She graduated from Britt High School. Arlene married John Sluik October 2, 1939 in Britt. In 1952 they moved to the Manly area where they farmed for many years. Arlene enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and canning. She is survived by her husband, John of Manly; 3 sons, John LeRoy Sluik and wife Ann of Dunn, NC, Larry Sluik and wife Cheryl of Manly, Lyle Sluik of O?Brien, FL; grandchildren, JoDee Lockamy and husband Scott, Melissa Cole and husband Dee, Tammy Rose and husband Mike, Robert John Sluik, Brenda Trenhaile and husband Steven, Tim Sluck and wife Linda, Sherie Faught and husband Doug, Christina Sluik, Andrea Cox and husband Mike; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Willrett of Britt; brother, Orville Heimendinger of Osage. Arlene?s parents, 2 brothers, Harold James and Gerald Heimendinger preceded her in death.
