Alma Partridge

Alma Partridge, 96, of 2501 West State Street died Monday (November 8, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church Wayside Chapel, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Scholarship Fund at North Iowa Area Community College. Alma was born December 18, 1907 in Woolstock, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Mary Elizabeth (Teufel) Partridge. She graduated from Woolstock High School in 1926, received her teachers training at the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, her BA Degree at Drake University and her Masters Degree at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, Illinois. After teaching in Woolstock for 10 years, she then taught in Greene, Iowa. Alma moved to Mason City in 1941 where she taught and later served as administrator for the Mason City School District retiring in 1973. She served her community in many ways, volunteering and actively supporting many charitable organizations. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, a member of the church circle, WSG and the United Methodist Women. She was also a lifetime member of the Iowa State Education Association, an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary educational society and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are her many faithful friends for whom she was ever grateful for giving joy and purpose to her life. Alma?s parents and sister, Bernice Sohn preceded her in death.
