Allan Calkins

Allan E. Calkins, 77, of Mason City, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, (December 17, 2007) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to the Allan E. Calkins Memorial Fund. Allan was born November 27, 1930, in Mason City, the son of Melford A. and Phoebe S. (Dunham) Calkins. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1948. Allan was a veteran, serving in the Korean War. He retired from LaFrenz Ford in 1995 after 16 years. He enjoyed reading and listening to music. Allan loved dogs, especially Boston Terriers. Allan is survived by one sister-in-law: Delores of Chicago Heights, IL and four nephews: David Calkins and wife Marcella of Crete, IL, Paul Calkins and wife Francesca of Homewood, IL, Michael Calkins and wife Deborah of Mason City, and Steven Calkins and wife Debra of Pingree Grove, IL. He is also survived by 6 great nieces and nephews: Laura, Sean, Daniel, Gianna, Joseph and Nina He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Donald Calkins, one sister: Jeanne Graham, one brother-in-law: Andrew Graham, one nephew: Mark Calkins and one great nephew: Nicholas Calkins
