Mason City ? A. Arlene Rossum, 79 of Mason City died Monday, January 02, 2006 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Steve Palo officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Friday. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the A. Arlene Rossum Memorial Fund. A. Arlene Kendall was born March 30, 1926 in Mason City the daughter of Arlie Alfred and Eunice Wesley (Tharp) Kendall. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1944. Arlene was united in marriage to Gordon Dean Rossum on January 26, 1947 in Mason City. Arlene?s faith was a very important part of her life, she has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1948 where she was a member of the Prayer Chain. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, she also loved to care for her flowers, especially her violets. Arlene was born and raised in Mason City, she has been known as a very kind and caring person, she would do anything for anyone. Arlene?s family and friends were at the core of her life, she enjoyed spending lots of time with them. She had a special place in her heart for her precious dog, Callie, a Llahsa-Apso. Those left to cherish Arlene?s memory are her children: Roger Rossum and wife Deborah of Mason City, Russell Rossum of Waverly, Mary Ann Rossum of Mason City and Dennis Rossum also of Mason City; her grandchildren, Rachel Rossum of Waverly, Aaron Rossum and special friend Tasha of Waterloo and Peter Rossum of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one great grandchild, Tre Jordan; sister-in-law, Lila Kendall of Mason City; long-time friend, Dixie Mennen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Michael Rossum and one brother, Euguene Kendall. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements, (641)423-0924.
