Mary Ann (Druschel) Hayward, 86, of Sheffield, IA, and formerly of Mason City, IA, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa in Mason City, following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue – Mason City, with Rev. Kathleen R. Moore of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street SE, Mason City, IA 50401.

Mary Ann Druschel, the daughter of William Emil and Fannie Bernice (Gettemy) Druschel, was born on October 30, 1930, on the family farm in rural Rockford. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1949. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Glen “Bud” Hayward on November 25, 1952, at the United Methodist Church in Mason City. Mary Ann worked for the Department of Agriculture, for 35 years, until she retired in 1985. In 1991, Mary Ann and Bud moved to Kimberling City, MO for their retirement years. Upon Bud’s passing Mary Ann moved to Springfield, MO where she made many new friends in a retirement community. In 2017, she then moved back to Iowa to spend her lasting days.

Mary Ann’s hobbies include crocheting, crosswords, card games, puzzles, and Yahtzee.

Mary Ann is survived by her grandchildren; Heather (Gary) Hayward of Crofton, MD, Chad (Lisa) Bale of Seattle, WA, Laura (Adam) Dillman of Sheboygan, WI, Michelle (Josh) Utech of Sheboygan, WI, Chris (Candy) Shirley of Springfield, MO, and Brad (Beka) Shirley of Des Moines, IA, and a daughter in law, Missey Hayward of Springfield, MO. Also included are her great grandchildren; Jacob, Olyvia, Karleigh, Lilyana, Landen and Hunter. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Koehler of Nora Springs, nieces, nephews, and other family. As well as a very close friend, Ruth Johnson, of Springfield, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen “Bud” Hayward, their son Dennis Hayward and other family members.
