Margaret I Snyder

Margaret I. Snyder, 98, of Mason City, IA, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday June 19, 2017 at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Hansen of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Sunday June 18, 2017 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.

Margaret was born June 3, 1919, in Mason City, the daughter of Lee A. and Inez L. (Lawrence) McNutt. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1937, and received her associates degree when she was 58 years old from NIACC in Mason City. Margaret was united in marriage to Vernon D. Snyder on July 3, 1938, in Mason City. To this union five children were born. Margaret spent most of her life raising her children but, after they were raised she worked for fifteen years for Neilson Ratings in Mason City. She was very involved in the Alzheimer’s Program for years. Margaret was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge for many years.

Those thankful for having shared in Margaret's life include her husband: Vernon Snyder (deceased); five children: Larry (Martina) Snyder of Mason City, Peggy (Larry) Lairamore of Littleton, CO, Dr. Richard Snyder of Davis, CA, Lee Ann (Michael) Schwarz of Colorado Springs, CO; and Bill Snyder of Estherville, IA; nine grandchildren: Mark (Amanda) Snyder of Odessa, TX, Julie (Steve) Meyer of Lake City, MN, Matt Snyder of Mason City, Tami (Bruce) Backstrom of Littleton, Tony Lairamore (deceased), Ryan Schwarz of Soul, S. Korea, Blayne Schwarz of Colorado Springs, Mandy (Bob) Snyder of Estherville, Stacey Snyder of Estherville, Billy Snyder of Estherville, Daniel (Beverly) Snyder of Davis, CA; and fourteen great grandchildren.
