Following graduation from boot camp, Jeff was stationed in Tennessee til his orders to transfer to the Naval Air Station in Virginia came thru. He worked on combat helicopters until his honorable discharge in 1992. He later served in the Kuwait Conflict and stationed there for a short time. Jeff continued serving his country by joining the Iowa National Guard 1133rd Transportation Unit from 1992 until 2002.

Jeff was a dependable employee and he demonstrated this during his employment in quality assurance at IMT in Garner where he achieved many awards accolades. Jeff also acquired his CDL license and held various jobs driving tractor trailer delivering products for various companies.

On October 17, 2003 Jeff was united in marriage to his soulmate Nicki Dutcher. The couple was blessed with a son Jaxon Robert Lessor on December 4, 2008.

Jeff spent so much time with his little buddy Jaxon, whether playing baseball in the backyard or off fishing. The two of them were always together. He helped coach all of his little league baseball teams and was the best pitching coach that MCYBA has ever seen. One of his hobbies was woodworking and he fabricated some of the finest “corn hole” boards around. Jeff was a “Jack-of-all-trades” kind of guy.

Jeff also competed on many slow-pitch softball teams and participated in multiple tournaments. He is still referred to as “Lefty Lessor” from his early days playing baseball for Mason City. Jeff was an avid golfer and supporter of the North Iowa Bulls hockey team.
Jeff had a great sense of humor with his Red Skelton attitude. He had such a sharp memory, especially when it came to reciting quotes from any movie. He was the life of the party, famous for his impressions, especially the Lion from the Wizard of Oz.
